Privacy Policy for Cure
Last Updated: September 6, 2026
Summary
Cure does not collect your data. The app has no account system, no analytics, and no servers. Everything you enter stays on your device.
Who we are
Cure is developed by Penpell Systems ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Cure iOS app handles information.
Information we collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information.
Cure has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend service. The app does not contain analytics software, advertising software, crash reporting services, or third-party software development kits of any kind. The app makes no network requests, so no information about you or your use of the app is sent anywhere.
Information stored on your device
Cure saves the following on your device so the app can work. This information is never transmitted to us or to anyone else:
- Batch records — the cut of meat, weights, thickness, curing salt type and nitrite percentage, calculated formulations, dates, and any notes you write.
- Weight logs — the weights you record as a batch dries, and their timestamps.
- Photos — any photo you choose to attach to a batch. A copy is stored with that batch record.
- Preferences — settings such as your unit preference and whether you have acknowledged the safety disclaimer.
This information is held in the app's private storage and in a shared container used by the app's Home Screen widget and Live Activities. It is included in your device backups if you have iPhone backups enabled, under whatever terms apply to your backup — a local encrypted backup or your iCloud account. We have no access to those backups.
Deleting the app removes this information from your device.
Device permissions
Cure asks for two optional permissions. Both can be declined, and the app remains usable if you decline them.
- Notifications — requested when you first save a batch, and used only to alert you on your device when a cure time or drying target is reached. No notification content leaves your device.
- Photos — Cure uses Apple's standard photo picker. The app does not receive access to your photo library; it receives only the specific image you select.
Cure does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera roll at large, health data, or any other protected resource.
Spotlight and Siri
If you save batches, Cure adds entries for them to your device's Spotlight index so you can find them by searching, and makes actions available to Siri and the Shortcuts app. This indexing is performed by iOS on your device. Apple's handling of Spotlight and Siri data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not this one.
Tracking
Cure does not track you. We do not collect identifiers for advertising, we do not share information with data brokers, and we do not combine any information with data from third parties. Cure does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because it performs no tracking.
Children
Cure does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. The app is a tool for home food preparation involving curing salts, which are hazardous if misused, and is intended for adults.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. If a future version of Cure collects information, we will update this policy before that version is released.
